Hi! I’m Christie.

I’ve been in love with the ocean since I could first form memories, and I have been collecting shells my entire life. I walked the beaches of Rhode Island as a child, picking up shell fragments and sea glass along the way. I scoured the shores of the Atlantic and Gulf coasts of Florida, and more recently, I have been searching for shells along the South Carolina coast. I never looked for the most beautiful and perfect shells; instead, I looked for the ones that spoke to me. In 2020, She Sells Sea Shells was brought into existence. She Sells Sea Sells was born from a genuine love for and connection to the sea, and it was born from a desire to create and express beauty in unexpected places. My art is mostly on-shell or shell- to-canvas and each piece is hand-painted in whimsical, abstract designs. We are living in a time where the world around us is becoming increasingly digital and non-physical. The focus of She Sells Sea Shells is to combine art and tangible nature to bring you back to reality in imaginative ways.

I live in Atlanta with my husband and goldendoodle, Oliver. When I am not painting I am working as an acute care speech language pathologist rehabilitating communication, cognition, and swallowing function after critical illness. Long-term acute care rehab is an emotionally difficult environment to work in, but it is also extremely rewarding. More importantly, these experiences and patients have taught me about the fragility of life and the need to follow your dreams today. No time is promised to us, and the time we are given is a blessing. Enjoy, and thanks for visiting She Sells Sea Shells!

From the ocean,

to you
